The NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) shows its support of the Inuit community’s stance against seismic testing by Big Oil in Canadian waters.
“Seismic testing, which involves the emission of extraordinarily loud blasts of sound, presents a clear danger to marine life. It can disrupt vital behaviors for many marine species, especially those relying on sonar for communication, like narwhals, and even cause direct trauma that can be fatal. […] Noise pollution, such as from seismic testing that is proposed off the coast of Baffin Island, ranks alongside oil and plastic debris as one of the most major threats to our world’s oceans.”
